CA License Could Create Speedier US-Mexico Border Crossing
February 6, 2013
A new proposition may enable drivers who are crossing the US-Mexico border to be offered a special California drivers license to speed up the border crossing process, while maintaining security for both nations. This new proposition could be extremely beneficial for the numerous employees who manufacture in Mexico.
California would be the first state to occupy this new license, if the proposition goes through, for the southwest states. This “enhanced license” is being pushed in response to the economic demand that houses various jobs for those crossing the California-Mexico border on a daily basis.
This new license would decrease the border wait, while simultaneously encourage trade and travel between the two countries.
The proposition will be examined thoroughly to ensure both countries will be compliant with both security and privacy concerns.
This idea did not originate with California. It can be viewed with northern states sharing borders with Canada. Currently Washington has already issued 339,000 similar licenses for trade and travel in that region
